Jadens First Book

Mikayla LOVES to read, so every time we bring books home from the library, she sits down and reads to Jaden. I was aware of this of course... but I didn't know that she has actually been teaching HIM how to read. This morning he got out a book and said he wanted to "read" to me... so we sat down on the couch, and I was BLOWN AWAY! he did so good, I decided to put him on the blog... so here he is reading his very first book (that I am aware of!)

Popsicles and Scripture Night

So we were trying to get the kids settled down for Scriptures and everyone decided they needed a Popsicle... Here is Jax and his first attempt to go it alone. It was lots of yummy and some laughs too! Jaden is getting to be such a clown! He likes to "quote" scriptures...

Note the popcorn popping in the background while I video... needless to say, it was BURNED! I had to pop another bag...

The Crabtree's

So one last hoorah for our trip to Idaho for Christmas... We all got together for group family portraits and this is what we got...
Isn't it amazing? I still can't believe how big our family has gotten!! I love it that my kids have so many fun and adorable cousins right a the exact same age as they are. I love it that we all get along so well, and have so much fun together. I love it that we DO get together (though not as often as we should...) so our kids can grow up knowing each other and we can all grow closer as a family... Thank you Ken and Sara for the beautiful family we all share!

First Haircut

Last week I decided that my sweet little boy had the weirdest hair ever... while having the cutest curls I have ever seen, it had unfortunately grown into a mullet! Don't ask me why my kids hair grows so fast in the back, and doesn't budge in the front... but for some reason both my boys had mullets!! So I decided it was time for Jaxson's first haircut! Brian decided he was going to have nothing to do with it, because he was sure that Jax was going to be all over the place or screaming or BOTH! so I took Jax and stripped him down to his onesie handed him a train (that was the key!) and off we went. He was SO GOOD! He just looked at himself in the mirror and watched what was I was doing... he never fussed once and he just let me go to town on him!! He was such a good boy! So bye bye baby hair... isn't it funny how much older they look with buzzed heads? Is it because the baby hair is gone?? but hey... no more mullet! YAY!! (but I do miss his cute baby curls!!)

Big Boy Jax

well, yes he is finally walking... YAY JAX!! silly kid! he has been so stubborn about walking... even when I would take the time to hold his hands and help him walk around the house, he would just plop down on his bottom!! Then one day while I was sitting at the computer working, he just let go of my chair and walked out to the kitchen, and has been walking ever since! He was pretty funny about it, though... as you'll see in the video, he is pretty proud of himself and he does a great job for his official first day walking... but when he falls down he shouts "AARGH!" in frustration.

Naturally, like all my posts this one is a little old... so I will work on getting a more recent one for the Grandma's and whoever else cares to see it!

Doctor Jaden

As many of you know, Mikayla spends alot of time in hospitals, and has a pretty hard time when it comes to getting her IV's placed and her blood pressure taken and so forth. Well, at her last MRI we were talking to the childlife specialist and she suggested that we take an IV kit and some other medical stuff home for her to play with so that MAYBE she would play with it and get comfortable around the different items they use... Well, predictably she won't have anything to do with it, but Jaden of course LOVES it! Almost every day, he asks me if we can play "doctor stuff"... usually it's during the day when Kayla is at school, so there has never been any uproar about it, but we finally got the IV kit out when Kayla was home....

She came in to see what we were doing and we were explaining to her that all their "babies" (that's what my kids call their stuffed animals) were sick, so we were helping them to feel better. Well, she took one look at the IV and told me her doll was NOT sick, and to take that yucky poke out of her... (naturally they didn't give us a needle, its just the catheter) and she stormed out saying she was not going to play that yucky game... That didn't change Jadens mind! He had a blast placing IV's in the babies arms, and wrapping the dolls head in a gauze bandage and putting bandages over their eyes etc... he even got the gloves on!!

Is there a doctor in the house?!?

Jaxson and Tyler

During our stay in Rexburg over Christmas, Jaxson got to meet his cousin Tyler for the first time. They are so cute together, they seemed to bond right away and they played so cute together!! Tyler was born only about 4 weeks after Jax, and that makes it even more fun for them!! This is a video of them playing together... they were "chasing" each other around the coffee table in the living room... very cute for a couple of one year olds!!
